Science & Research Projects Manager
The Tree Council
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 depending on skills and experience
One-year fixed term, with potential to renew
The Tree Council is a small, friendly, ambitious team that works out of a quirky, listed building in East London. We inspire people to connect with trees and help conserve and protect them through a range of community projects and an important programme of scientific research. This is an exciting time for the charity following the arrival of a new CEO earlier this year and as we start to develop plans for our 50th anniversary in 2023.
As we grow, we’re looking for an experienced Science & Research Projects Manager to support our science programmes, which are currently focused on Ash Dieback, Oak Processionary Moth and Tree Procurement, as well as vegetation trials with Network Rail. You will develop and lead some activities and support on others with research, report-writing and administration.
This new role is ideal for someone with a degree in Natural Sciences and minimum three-years’ experience on tree-related projects. You will have the knowledge and ability to engage and inspire different audiences on the subject of trees, plus experience of consultation and how local authorities operate.
You will be a team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills – someone who enjoys building relationships and pays close attention to detail.
Equally importantly, you will have a can-do attitude, a practical approach to problem-solving, high professional standards and a love of the natural world. The post requires an ability to juggle priorities, work fast and accurately and meet deadlines – all with a smile on your face!
The role reports to the Director of Trees, Science & Research and will also support the CEO and wider team’s bids to generate new partnership income.
Benefits include 25 days’ annual leave (plus break between Christmas / New Year) and 7% pension contribution by The Tree Council.
To apply please send your CV, with a cover letter of no more than two-sides A4, to email@example.com explaining why this role attracts you and how your experience matches the key responsibilities, skills and attitudes. Please click here for a full job description.
The closing date for applications is: Wednesday 24 October 2018.
First round interviews will take place on: Tuesday 30 October 2018
No agencies please.
