Welcome to new Tree Wardens in Ealing and Wandsworth!
The new Ealing Tree Warden Network launched on the last Saturday of National Tree Week.
Initial recruits are being drawn from the borough’s volunteer Streetwatchers who joined with local children to plant an orchard in Ravenor Park.
The launch is part of the new Londoners Love Trees volunteer initiative.
The main role for Ealing Tree Wardens to start with is going to be looking out for the new trees that the council will plant during 2012.
Elsewhere in London, the Wandsworth network has launched using the Tree Council model constitution.
Tree Wardens have elected a local resident as the co-ordinator and chairman. As part of its support for the network, Wandsworth Council will be providing a meeting space.
The network has already recruited 10 new Tree Wardens and intends to focus on reporting tree issues to the council and tree planting in one of the parks.
