Award for community engagement

Chelmsford Tree Warden Ian Hughes is pictured here at the national award ceremony for the NHS Forest.

Ian is Tree Warden for Broomfield, whose hospital won the category for the best Community Engagement in the NHS Forest. He was invited to attend the ceremony for his contribution to this success.

The award was presented to Broomfield Hospital by Forestry Commission chairman, Pam Warhurst, at a conference held in Coventry.

The hospital’s woodland project is now in its third year. Activities so far have included creating disabled access paths, planting 400 trees and shrubs and putting up information boards. This has all been done with the help of local volunteers, schools and community groups.
