Search is on for favourite trees
Havant Tree Wardens have launched a hunt among fellow residents for their borough’s favourite trees. They are challenging individuals and organisations to nominate – online or by post – trees of particular significance in the Havant landscape. Among those they hope to involve are faith groups, schools, Scouts, Guides, Cubs, Brownies and other youth groups, horticultural societies, allotment holders, conservation and environmental organisations, pensioner organisations, residents and local business associations.
The Favourite Tree project will celebrate the borough’s trees by using photographs of them in various projects, possibly including a 2013 calendar. The closing date for entries is 1 October. The top 12 trees will then be selected by a panel of judges.
