The West Sussex Tree Warden Network was established in 1990, one of the first in the country, and is co-ordinated by West Sussex County Council.
There are now 180 tree wardens volunteering throughout the county covering some 98 parishes and towns.
West Sussex successfully hosted the South East Regional Forum in 2006 at West Dean College. Current projects include a 'Trees for Shade' initiative, encouraging tree wardens, schools, parish councils and other community groups to participate. Future plans include a new hedge tree promotion and developing web pages specifically aimed at current Tree Wardens.
Training programmes are developed with tree warden feedback in mind from our biennial questionnaires together with other events throughout the year.
New tree wardens are very welcome, especially in areas currently without wardens. For more information please contact Julie Bolton or Nicola Gardner, network co-ordinators or e mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
