West Lancashire Council's aim is to have at least one Tree Warden for each of it's 26 Parishes. Most of the Districts Parishes are represented with one or more TW's. There are also TW's in two non-parished areas including Ormskirk the District's main town.

TW's and helpers in Scarisbrick near Ormskirk have carried out many good works including

* Distribution and planting of 2,000 trees in various locations around the parish which was mainly funded by the Parish Council.

* The planting up of a two-acre site in 2002 with native trees to create community woodland that will serve as an educational resource. Future plans are to create better access and provide educational information signs.

The village of Parbold is particularly well represented with no less than 5 TW's. Projects in the Village included a

* A Tree Trail with a leaflet providing details of trees of particular interest.

* The Parbold group has previously been funded by 'The Green Partnership Awards' to carry out various environmental improvements around the Village.

Past training has included hands on practical works such as thinning of wooded copse areas using hand tools with the help of the Council's Ranger Service.
