The Parish Tree Scheme has been co-ordinated and funded by Suffolk Coastal District Council since the late 1970s with trees and hedging improving the quality and biodiversity of the parishes and villages. Trees and hedging are provided for private and public land and we ask for a small financial contribution from parishes to help cover costs of the scheme including planting guards. We give as much advice as possible on the choice and location of species and those supplied will be native to Britain and occurring within the District. Planting is undertaken by parishioners, community groups, adults and children to encourage local involvement and the subsequent maintenance of the trees is co-ordinated by the Tree Warden.
