South Staffordshire is a predominantly rural area lying adjacent to the western and northern edges of the West Midlands conurbation. It covers an area of about 41,000ha and extends northwards to the boundaries with Stafford and Cannock, southwards to the Worcstershire border and West to Shropshire. The District is designated about 95% greenbelt land. 37 Tree Wardens represent 27 Parishes across the district. The Wardens are active in advising the Council of any potential threats to trees (whether protected or not), helping with distribution of trees offered through the Council's free tree scheme and in tree planting projects as well as other initiatives.
