The South Norfolk network started in 1992 and is co-ordinated by the district council. Approximately 90 of the district's 119 parishes have a Tree Warden, and the aim is to have 100% coverage eventually.
Training events are arranged throughout the year. Tree Wardens are encouraged to get involved with decision making and are consulted on tree work proposals in Conservation Areas. The network's main annual project is National Tree Week. Since 2000, an average of 6,800 trees and hedge plants have been planted each year by the district's Tree Wardens. The network has its own newsletter, which is published at least twice a year.
