Life for a Life is a national registered charity that in September 1999 launched a major scheme to assist bereaved families and friends to cope with the loss of a loved one by the planting of a memorial tree. The scheme was launched in conjunction with United Utilities who along with Wessex and Bristol Water, Lancashire County Council and Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council have enabled Life for a Life to now have over 30 established memorial forests around the country.

The Life for a Life scheme involves the planting of one of four species of tree, which have been specifically chosen for their natural beauty, strength, robustness and long life span. Every tree which is planted has its own individual plaque, is recorded in the Book of Remembrance and each client is issued with a Certificate of Plantation. The scheme also guarantees full maintenance of the tree and the surrounding area for a minimum period of 25 years.

Life for a Life is a not-for-profit, non-denominational organisation. All donations from the scheme are redistributed to the many officially appointed beneficiaries we support, which include Hospitals, Hospices and other Heath Care related organisations.
