The Woodland Trust is working to protect and restore Britain's native broadleaved woodland. Established in1972, the Trust is now the UK's leading woodland conservation charity, with four main aims:
1.
To protect ancient woodland
2.
To improve and restore woodland biodiversity
3.
To increase new native woodland
4.
To promote people's awareness and enjoyment of woodland
The Trust cares for more than 1,000 sites, covering nearly 20,000 hectares (50,000 acres), and access to them is free. It is funded by a range of sources including grants, legacies, donations and membership. The support of its 160,000 members is especially vital to continuing its work.
