Established in 1804, the RHS is the UK's leading gardening charity dedicated to advancing horticulture and promoting gardening.
The RHS believes horticulture and gardening enrich people's lives and is committed to bringing the personal and social benefits of gardens and gardening to a diverse audience.
Helping people share a passion for plants, encourage excellence in horticulture in private and public spaces, help create healthy, sustainable communities and support long-term environmental improvements are goals of the RHS.
The RHS develops ideas on best practice in gardening, which meet the needs and expectations of gardeners, and while respecting the fragility of the environment, undertakes research that generates practical benefits for gardeners with varying levels of experience and interest.
The highest standards of horticulture are displayed at the four RHS Gardens: Wisley in Surrey, Rosemoor in Devon, Hyde Hall in Essex and Harlow Carr in North Yorkshire, as well as at the many spectacular RHS flower shows held throughout the year.
Education is central to the RHS' charitable purpose, with formal and informal learning opportunities provided across the UK, accredited RHS qualifications, school and family learning programmes and the RHS School of Horticulture.
The RHS also organises Europe's largest horticultural campaign, Britain in Bloom, and more recently, Neighbourhood Awards.
