Your Local Community Forest

Nurture Value Enjoy

The Forest of Mercia is one of England's Community Forests, the country's biggest environmental regeneration initiative.

The Forest of Mercia's aim is to improve the environment, regenerate communities and enhance quality of life. This is achieved through work on the ground and through encouraging involvement and inclusion. We use trees, woodlands and forests as the focus for all of this activity.

The Forest of Mercia is not a continuous woodland but rather a collection of woodlands, hedgerows, heathlands, farmlands, wetlands, lakes and grasslands that join together to form a rich landscape for all to enjoy. That's not to say trees aren't important however...

Since the early 1990's the Forest of Mercia team have worked with local communities and landowners to plant thousands of trees. It is also our aim to look after these trees, as well as other established but neglected woodland in the area. Having worked hard to enhance local environments, we also try to encourage people to get out there and enjoy the trees, woodlands and forest on their doorsteps!
