The Confederation of Forest Industries (ConFor) is the voice of the UK's forest industries, representing around 2,000 members from all parts of the timber supply chain, including growers, woodland managers, suppliers, contractors, harvesters, primary and secondary processors and students. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in trees, woodland, forestry or timber.
The core objectives are:
* to help build the market for timber, timber products and forest services;
* to improve government policies towards our industry;
* to help members become more profitable.
ConFor is staffed by a team based across the UK and its work is enhanced by selective partnerships with many other industry bodies. In addition, ConFor represents the industry on the Scottish Forest Industries Cluster, England Forest Industries Partnership, Wales Forest Business Partnership and the Wood. for Good timber promotion campaign.
To influence policy, ConFor maintains regular contacts with EU, UK and devolved governments; responds to many relevant public consultations, as well as initiating new policy ideas and challenging unfavourable proposals and decisions.
ConFor's focus on profitability and efficiency throughout the wood chain includes key roles in market development, timber transport, research and development, workforce development and productivity initiatives.
