BTO is the UK's leading independent bird research organisation. The unique partnership of volunteer birdwatchers and scientific staff brings together information that forms a sound basis for conservation action in the UK. The Trust was formed in 1933 and involved just a few dedicated ornithologists. Today there are over 30,000 birdwatchers contributing records from gardens to mountains tops, farmland to estuaries, all across the UK.
You can show your support for the Trust in a number of ways - Join in and volunteer to take part in a BTO survey, an enjoyable and rewarding extension of your bird watching. Wherever you live in the UK, and whatever birds you see, there is a survey for you. Alternatively, support the Trust by becoming a member and your subscription will contribute to funding our vital monitoring work.
Either way by working with the BTO you will help to safeguard the UK's birds for future generations. The work makes a direct and vital contribution to bird conservation, by enabling both campaigners and decision-makers to set priorities and target resources. For more information on becoming a BTO member or taking part in surveys, please contact BTO or visit its website.
