  • Description: The RFS was founded in 1882 and has nearly 4,000 members. We are dedicated to promoting the wise management of trees and woodlands and to increasing people's understanding of forestry. We publish the popular magazine, the Quarterly Journal of Forestry and a fortnightly electronic newsletter, e-news. We also arrange 100 plus outdoor meetings each year and organise national and international study tours. The RFS arboricultural qualifications are recognised the world over and we own and manage three woodlands as examples of good practice.
